Scopay is evolving: a more connected way to manage the school meal journey

Things are changing at Scopay. Tucasi is becoming Scopay, bringing our products, services and experience together under one name and one refreshed brand. But this is much more than a change of name. We are investing in the products our customers already rely on, improving the experience around them and expanding our portfolio with new solutions designed around the changing needs of schools, MATs, caterers and parents.

A new chapter for Scopay

Things are changing at Scopay. Tucasi is becoming Scopay, bringing our products, services and experience together under one name and one refreshed brand. But this is much more than a change of name. We are investing in the products our customers already rely on, improving the experience around them and expanding our portfolio with new solutions designed around the changing needs of schools, MATs, caterers and parents.

What is not changing is the breadth of support we provide. Scopay will continue to support the everyday processes our customers already manage with us. From payments and parental engagement to trips, clubs and other school activities, those services remain an important part of what we do. Alongside them, we are introducing new and improved solutions that help address some of the operational challenges schools and their partners face today.

One area where you will see significant change is school meals.

School lunchtimes may only occupy part of the school day, but behind every meal is a complex set of processes.

Schools need accurate information about pupils and their dietary requirements. Catering teams need to know what has been ordered and what can safely be served. Parents need confidence that the information they provide is understood. Finance and operations teams need accurate meal numbers. Most importantly, pupils need a lunchtime experience that feels safe, simple and inclusive.

That is why Scopay is evolving.

We are bringing together a new generation of Scopay solutions designed around the whole school meal journey, from planning and meal choices through to service, dietary requirements and reconciliation.

Dinner Money is evolving into Meal Management

For many schools, managing dinner money has traditionally focused on payments and meal numbers. But the realities of school catering now stretch much further.

Schools and caterers need to manage everything from menus and parent pre orders to dietary requirements, service and reconciliation. These processes are closely connected, so the technology supporting them should be too.

That is why Dinner Money is evolving into Meal Management, a more connected way to manage the meal journey, helping schools and caterers reduce administration, improve visibility and keep operations running smoothly.

Instead of information sitting across different processes, paper records or manual checks, the aim is to help the people involved in school meals work from clearer, more consistent information.

For schools, that means simpler administration and greater confidence in day-to-day lunchtime operations.

For MATs, it means better visibility and greater consistency across schools within the Trust.

For caterers, it means a more joined up way to manage meal operations across multiple sites, from menu planning and parent communication through to meal numbers and reconciliation.

Point of Service: the right information, at the right time

Dual-screen point-of-service in use at a primary school counter

A busy lunch service leaves little room for uncertainty.

When a pupil reaches the serving counter, staff need the relevant information quickly. Delays can create longer queues, additional checks and greater pressure on catering teams.

Scopay Point of Service is designed to put useful information where it matters, at the point a pupil is being served.

This supports serving teams in making informed decisions while helping lunch service move more smoothly and reducing reliance on separate paperwork or visible pupil identifiers.

The experience can also be configured around different dining environments. Existing Scopay materials describe options including dual screen and modular arrangements, recognising that school dining halls vary significantly in layout, pupil numbers and staffing.

The technology is only part of the story. The outcome we are working towards is much simpler: clearer information for staff, smoother queues for pupils and less friction during one of the busiest parts of the school day.

And when pupils can move through lunch more efficiently, there is another benefit that matters to them: more time to play.

Dietary Requirements: supporting safer, more inclusive lunchtimes

Managing allergies and dietary requirements is one of the most important responsibilities involved in school catering.

Information can come from several people and organisations, including parents, schools and caterers, and it needs to remain clear, current and accessible to the people who need it.

Scopay Dietary Requirements is designed to help schools, Trusts, caterers and parents work from clearer information around allergies and other dietary requirements.

This can help support stronger allergy management processes while also recognising that dietary requirements may arise for many different reasons, including religion, culture and personal preference.

The experience for the child matters too.

Traditional approaches can sometimes rely on visible identifiers such as coloured wristbands or lanyards. While these can communicate important information, they can also make pupils feel different from their peers.

Our approach is designed to support a more discreet experience, with relevant information available to staff without unnecessarily drawing attention to the child. Existing Scopay materials similarly position this around supporting pupil safety, inclusion and wellbeing while reducing reliance on visible identifiers.

The result is a more inclusive approach to lunchtime, supporting staff with the information they need while helping children simply enjoy their meal alongside everybody else.

Classroom Edition: make meal choices part of the school day

The lunchtime journey does not have to begin when pupils reach the dining hall.

With Classroom Edition, pupils can make their meal choices earlier in the school day, while schools and kitchens gain clearer information before service begins.

For pupils, it creates a simple, familiar way to make a choice.

For staff, it can reduce the amount of information that needs to be collected manually.

For catering teams, having greater visibility ahead of lunchtime can help them prepare more effectively for service.

It is another example of how small improvements at one stage of the meal journey can make the whole process run more smoothly.

One connected lunchtime experience

Meal Management, Dietary Requirements, Point of Service and Classroom Edition are not intended to solve isolated problems.

Together, they reflect a wider change in how we think about school meals.

Rather than treating ordering, dietary information, service and reconciliation as separate tasks, we are building a more connected lunchtime experience around the people who actually need to use it.

For schools, that means reducing administration while supporting safer, more inclusive and efficient lunchtimes.

For MATs, it means gaining better oversight and consistency across schools within the Trust.

For caterers, it means managing multiple sites more efficiently, communicating relevant meal information and improving reconciliation.

For parents, it means a clearer connection with the people responsible for providing their child's meals.

And for pupils, it means a smoother lunchtime where their individual needs can be supported without unnecessarily making them feel different.

This connected approach builds on the direction already set out across Scopay's school meal solutions, reducing paper-based processes, improving visibility, supporting allergy management and making meal service simpler from office to kitchen.

Our products are evolving. And so are we.

This next chapter is bigger than a product update.

Tucasi is becoming Scopay, bringing everything together under the name many of our customers already know.

Alongside our evolving products comes a new Scopay brand, a new website and a new hub, creating a clearer home for our solutions, guidance and resources.

What is not changing is the experience behind the name.

We continue to build on more than 20 years of experience working with schools and caterers, and understanding the practical pressures that sit behind seemingly simple tasks such as serving lunch.

Because good school technology should not create another process for staff to manage.

It should make the processes they already have to manage easier.

Welcome to the next chapter of Scopay

The school meal environment has changed, and Scopay is changing with it.

We are creating a more connected approach to school meal management, one that supports better information, simpler administration, smoother service and a safer, more inclusive experience for pupils.

Safer for pupils. Simpler for staff. Smarter for schools, MATs and caterers.
